Evaluation of the spirulina project in Burkina Faso, based on a methodology for evaluating project sustainability. The methodology was designed by McGILL university in Montréal, Canada and can be seen on their website.

Experience note: promoting access to safe water

Spirulina: the new « green treasure »

This article describes the promotion and distribution of Spirulina in rural areas in Burkina Faso. This experience was conducted by Entrepreneurs du Monde in partnership with AsIEnA, local organisation. Raphaëlle Birot who worked with Entrepreneurs du Monde in the field is the author of this article which was published in the magazine Interdépendances (N° 76 - January 2010).

Presentation of WATA project

After the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Entrepreneurs du Monde started working in Camp Corail to propose a business model to people who don’t yet have a project – access to pure water is one of them. This is how EdM created “Likipwop”, a brand of chlorine solution. Producers and sellers are trained to carry out this new project. This document proposes an adapted business plan and marketing solution.

Promoting spirulina with microfinance ***

This article presents Entrepreneurs du Monde’s experience in promoting and distributing spirulina thanks to microfinance. This project is conducted in Burkina Faso in partnership with a local MFI, Asiena. The article (published in Rural 21's January 2011 edition) was written by Raphaëlle Birot who was in Burkina on a long term assignment with Entrepreneurs du Monde to implement the project.

Marketing strategy of spirulina project

This dissertation was written in 2009 by Raphaelle Birot, who implemented the Spirulina project with Entrepreneurs du Monde in Burkina Faso. It focuses on the setting up of a sales and promotion network for spirulina in rural areas, in Burkina Faso. This document presents the context, the methodology used as well as principles on social and solidarity marketing; finally, the author proposes an analysis of the results and future prospects for this project.

« Spirulina, Microfinance and Health » : assessment 2011

The “Spirulina, Microfinance and Health” project was launched by Entrepreneurs du Monde in 2008. The project aims to make Spirulina available to the poorest rural population through awareness campaigns, training and the setting up of a Spirulina selling and distributing network. This document first presents spirulina productio and goes on to evaluate the achievements of the last 2 years. The Marketing Mix cited here reviews the commercialization strategy.
