I am not alone in this. Other small business owners in the region are also using solar power systems to grow their businesses. Access to reliable energy enables the entire community to improve its living conditions and create new economic opportunities.
My name is Anna Zulieta, and I live in the Marikina River Basin Nature Reserve in Rizal Province, east of Manila. Despite our proximity to Manila, access to electricity remains limited, which hinders the development of local economic activities. I am a hairdresser by trade. Before, I worked only during the day and outside my home because I didn’t have electricity at home, which severely limited my work and my income.
A crucial realization
It’s more than just training; it’s a mission for the future of children. I signed up for a solar kit that includes lamps, a fan, and a television. The monthly payment of 550 Philippine pesos (€8) fits my budget: I couldn’t afford to pay the full amount all at once, but this solution lets me invest without putting my family in a difficult situation. Thanks to this kit, I was able to set up a room in my house and turn it into a hair salon. The lamps now let me work in the evening, when my clients come home from work. The fan and TV make them more comfortable and make the wait more pleasant.
A source of pride every day
Now that my business is doing better, I can serve more customers at the same time and even train apprentices. My business has become more stable and profitable. I’m not the only one. Other small business owners in the region are also using this solar equipment to grow their businesses. Access to reliable energy allows the entire community to improve its living conditions and create new economic opportunities.
