Femme tisserande, bénéficiaire de Yikri au Burkina Faso - Entrepreneurs du Monde

Supporting the social and economic integration of the most vulnerable

Since 1998, Entrepreneurs du Monde has supported vulnerable economic actors to pursue entrepreneurship, access energy and adapt to climate change.

Our vision of a fairer world

A fair and sustainable world where everyone has access to basic services, can pursue entrepreneurship, gain independence and ensure their own well-being and that of their family and community, while protecting the planet.

Our mission: helping the most vulnerable pursue entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs du Monde helps marginalised individuals pursue entrepreneurship, access energy and adapt to climate change in order to improve their quality of life and gain independence. We support individuals by providing a comprehensive range of financial, technical and social services: micro-credits, savings services, training, social support, technical and agricultural consulting, and access to energy.

To carry out its mission, Entrepreneurs du Monde creates local organisations and incubates them until they achieve self-sufficiency, with five main goals in mind:

Our target communities are vulnerable people, women in particular, who lack the resources and opportunities to gain independence because of economic, social and health-related factors.

What guides our day-to-day work

Our initiatives are based on a firm foundation of 5 values and 3 action principles.

Our values

  • Boldness: having the courage to meet the needs of the most vulnerable populations by innovating and taking calculated risks, with optimism and confidence.
  • Efficiency: putting our skills and resources to the best possible use to constantly improve our performance.
  • Respect: being considerate of others as well as the specific local, cultural and environmental contexts at play.
  • Fairness: striving to bring justice to populations in need and promote equal rights and opportunities, offering products and services on an impartial basis.
  • Transparency: honesty, accessibility of information, sharing of skills and practices.

Action principles

  • Ensure that our beneficiaries belong to our target communities.
We assess and monitor their socio-economic profile over time, run grassroots networks to engage with them directly, and put safeguards in place when we serve a minority of less vulnerable people, in order to protect the sustainability of the services provided to those most in need.
  • Consider our beneficiaries as actors in their own lives.
They are consulted on the decisions that affect them, such as assessing their needs and designing and adjusting products and services. They contribute financially or through their work, and take part in a continuous learning process.
  • Design all initiatives to be sustainable.
We create and incubate social enterprises until they can serve vulnerable populations fully independently; we favour a group-based methodology over individual liability, and we build synergies across our activities to multiply our impact.

Our roots in the social and solidarity economy

Through its statutes and mission, Entrepreneurs du Monde is firmly embedded in the social and solidarity economy (SSE). The association holds the ESUS accreditation (Socially Useful Solidarity Enterprise). The organisations it incubates combine a social or environmental purpose, the pursuit of economic self-sufficiency, and a logic of social innovation and sustainability.

Entrepreneurs du Monde contributes to 11 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
