Maraichère au Sénégal

Néné Marie – Market gardener in Senegal

My business ensures food security for my household and allows me to help my relatives and neighbors. Thanks to my business, I have even been able to support my co-wife, my friends, and my family. With FANSOTO, I have finally been able to grow my business and save for my future.

My name is Néné Marie Gnaga. I am 63 years old, married, and the mother of four children, the youngest of whom is 16 and still in school. In addition to my own children, I am also raising the four children of my late sister, the youngest of whom is only 3 years old.

Originally from Guinea-Bissau, I joined my husband in Senegal over 20 years ago. Coming from a modest family, I never went to school, but I have always worked to support my family.

Everything changed with FANSOTO

Since arriving in the village, I have taken up market gardening, growing tomatoes, peppers, okra, eggplants, and sorrel on a small plot of land. With my limited resources, I set aside a little money after each harvest to reinvest.

FANSOTO granted me my first loans. Thanks to this financing, I was able to buy quality seeds and fertilizers, equipment, and better organize my business. My income, which I had no control over before, now reaches 60,000 CFA francs (€92) per month. I am proud to be able to feed my family and send my children to school thanks to my work.

An impact that extends beyond my family

My business ensures food security for my household and allows me to help my relatives and neighbors. Thanks to my business, I have even been able to support my co-wife, my friends, and my family.

My next goal is to expand my farm and build my own house, a project that is already underway. With FANSOTO, I have finally been able to grow my business and save for my future.
