A complete ecosystem for the support of social entrepreneurship
In order to meet the challenges of the social inclusion of vulnerable populations, Entrepreneurs du Monde has constructed a complete ecosystem. It allows us to provide sustainable support for our local organisations, to ensure their social mission in the long term, and to foster their innovative skills.
An ecosystem which allows for sustainable and quality action
Over a period of 27 years, Entrepreneurs du Monde has succeeded in bringing together, under a single banner, several complementary structures, all guided by the same mission: to support the development of viable local social enterprises with a strong social and environmental impact.
-
€10,5 M engagement portfolio
-
19 organisations supported
-
14 countries of action
A single and integrated model
Entrepreneurs du Monde has created a complete ecosystem where each entity plays a key role in the incubation and consolidation of social enterprises:
- L’association Entrepreneurs du Monde: creation / launch, technical support, strengthening of abilities, governance, and strategic support.
- La Fondation Entrepreneurs du Monde Solidarité: the collection of donations, bequests and life insurances to finance the programmes’ social and human components.
- Le fonds de dotation Entrepreneurs du Monde (EdM endowment fund): the holding of shares in social enterprises.
- Microfinance Solidaire (MFS): the financing of working capital and credit funds to support growth.
- InVestisseurs Solidaires (IVS): the contribution of capital to allow social enterprises to expand and to conform to local regulations.
Entrepreneurs du Monde has succeeded in creating an ecosystem which sustainably ensures a strong social impact
4 phases in the incubation of social enterprises
Supporting social innovation
Entrepreneurs du Monde creates and develops local structures: feasibility study, business plan, legal structuring, recruitment and training of the team, setting up of procedures, and strong governance.
Objective: to transform a need into a structured local social enterprise which is ready to act.
Supporting growth
Once launched, these young social enterprises need resources in order to develop.
- On-going technical support (management, digital tools, monitoring and evaluation of impact).
- Financing of working capital, thanks to Microfinance Solidaire (MFS).
Objective: to strengthen economic viability and to reach more beneficiaries.
Scaling up
In order to meet a growing demand to increase their impact, incubated social enterprises need to capitalise and professionalise.
- Capital contribution via InVestisseurs Solidaires (IVS).
- Equity ownership via the Endowment Fund.
Objective: to provide structures with the means to grow, and reach dozens, if not hundreds, of thousands of beneficiaries.
Autonomy and a secure future
Upon maturity, the social enterprise has strong local governance, financial autonomy, and long-term partners.
- Strengthening of local government bodies
- Monitoring of governance to ensure that the social mission is respected
Objective: to ensure a secure future and lasting impact for the benefit of vulnerable populations.
